Having not done my research i did not realize Allen Edmonds uses lasts in the construction of their shoes and these McCallisters are meant for a long narrow foot, which i do not have.I sent them back to get a 10D and found this size to be comfortable, however it is obvious that my 10D's had been worn by someone at least once. Likely they came from a shoe store where someone had tried them out. They are technically still new, however it was quite obvious with the 10.5 d ones i got earlier that they came straight from the factory. Not a huge deal as the shoes were in quite good shape and the sole was still pristine. One more issue was the shoe string holes in the upper were not correctly lined up and it made it difficult to lace up the shoe. Not a huge deal, but you expect a shoe of this price to be perfect. Actually when they sat on the counter, we all thought the J&M had the edge cosmetically, but once on the feet everybody agreed the Allen Edmounds just looked classier. I've been working through the break-in period, but really can't say that I've had any issues with comfort during a normal day. I probably wouldn't wear these to travel until they've seen a lot more miles however. Overall I'm very pleased.Update - after six months of wearing these shoes I'm very pleased with the way they've held up and how comfortable they are. I have pronounced ankle bones which are often an issue, no problem with these. 'd recommend these to anybody looking for a great shoe. |
